"An eye for an eye.  Mine will grow back, though."

Having lost an arm in battle against the Aegyptus, Cyan had to go through the incredibly painful healing process, which is even worse for the youngest.  Those who admire an Axolotl's ability to regenerate entire body parts are the same who think childbirth is a wondrous event.

Through his cousin Amaranth and her close relationship with Prince Erenthal, Cyan was however able to benefit from the personal assistance of the royal doctors, which may well have been what got him through it.

It is testimony to his tough character and almost complete lack of fear, that Cyan returned to the front line as a member of the Queen's Guard.  He fought the Aegyptus time and time again - his new shield arm doing a thoroughly good job of keeping him in one piece this time.  When the Euweran coalition was finally shattered, and its constituent kingdoms forced to fall back on their defences, Cyan was one of the guards directly assigned to protect Prince Erenthal, during his flight over the sea.

What an adventure that turned out to be !
