"It's all about the blubber."

When work needs to be done in the extreme cold, ask a walrus. Their ability to deal with extreme ocean conditions is the more obvious - a walrus can dive down to 500m depth and stay under for 30 minutes or more - but they are also, despite their bulk, surprisingly agile mountaineers, as they need no other clothing than their natural blubber, and use their tusks as natural ice-picks.  Their 30cm long vibrissae are ultra-sensitive as they have both blood and nerves, which is useful in hostile environments such as icy gales or thrashing ocean water, when all other senses are blunted.

Floki has had a fairly adventurous life.  He has guided archeological digs in the high peaks to the north-west of Alladore, and in those same peaks, helped build the line of signal fires that allow Alladore's Tollonian allies to call for aid in times of danger.  He has brought up bodies and salvaged goods from ships sunk into the abyss.  It is said that he has even escorted Ranger expeditions through the mountain passes north-east of Lorenthia, on intelligence gathering missions into the Jungle Deep.

Other than that, he can also create a true vaccuum in his mouth, which is called "the kiss of the walrus".  Ask not what that is for.
