"He who smelt it, dealt it."
The larger towns of Alladore have firefighting companies, and ferrets such as Smesh are always welcome in their ranks. Not just agile, but lithe, with a long, thin and yet strong body, Smesh is the ideal person for writhing through wreckage to seek out survivors.
Smesh is renowned for his "war-dance", a series of agile, jerky, crazy looking movements that are his way of blowing off steam and adrenalin after dangerous rescue attempts, during which he can sometimes spend hours underground in cramped spaces with no way out but forwards.
Like his kindred, he is also renowned for being able to evacuate an unwanted crowd in ten seconds, due to the hideous odours he can give off via his anal glands. They are so bad that direct contact with a burst can cause skin irritation and even temporary blindness.
Pretty useful skills in the fight against the Jungle Deep. Smesh's favourite trick is to squirm into some inaccessible hole or tunnel, wind himself up like a corkscrew, then leap out and cut an unsuspecting henchman in two with his claymore. Best not stand too close when he does so...
