Death of Arethic I, allegedly of heart failure despite his youth.  In light of later events, foul play is suspected.  He is succeeded by his 25 year old son, Arethic II, who becomes the youngest king of Alladore for many generations.

If the Jungle Deep did indeed assassinate Arethic I, counting on the inexperience of his successor, they were to be disappointed.  A dedicated young man, Arethic II proved to be highly competent in statecraft and the daily running of his kingdom.  Although untested in battle, he quickly earned a reputation for justice and wisdom.
