Even before the coming of the Jungle Deep, these blood-sucking bats, which are native to the foothills of the Lorenthian border, would occasionally threaten livestock of remote farms.  Recently, these usually reclusive mammals have become more aggressive, attacking people and occasionally descending in thick clouds upon towns and villages.  Their bite is rarely life-threatening, but the diseases they spread are much more so.
